Safety & Respect at ACIFF

A cornerstone of ACIFF’s belief system is that everyone has the right to respect, as well as fair and equitable treatment from others. ACIFF does not tolerate violence, mistreatment, or harassment — verbal, physical, sexual, or otherwise — towards staff, Volunteers, delegates, audience members, or attendees at any of our festivals, conferences, or events. Our staff and Volunteers are committed to ensuring the best possible experience for all of our attendees. If the safety of our guests is in question, we will take immediate steps to ensure the matter is addressed.

ACIFF Digital Code of Conduct

As an online extension of ACIFF’s public spaces, we encourage open dialogue and critical discussion across our social media channels. To do this, we must ensure that our digital spaces remain safe, inclusive, and respectful.

We welcome comments that engage constructively with ACIFF programming, events, and content, fostering debate and curiosity.

ACIFF has a zero-tolerance policy for comments that include:

  • Hate speech of any kind, including racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism, xenophobia, or ageism
  • Harassment of any kind, including personal attacks, bullying, or targeted abuse of ACIFF staff, artists, guests, or community members
  • Threats of violence or aggressive language that incites harm
  • Obscene, defamatory, or graphic content
  • Spam or disruptive trolling behavior

ACIFF’s digital platforms are actively monitored. Any post or comment that violates this Digital Code of Conduct will be removed without notice. In cases involving threats or other potentially criminal behavior, we may report the incident to law enforcement.
